Life Goes On (Even When I'm Not Blogging)
Well, it's been an extremely long time since I've blogged. Here's a quick catch up on some of the events I missed (don't be scared - when I say "quick", I mean "quick").
The last time I blogged was the beginning of April, so I guess I'll start there...
April
We had a Happy Easter (and the kids looked adorable, of course)
Emma fell off a kitchen chair, landed on her chin, and won herself the distinction of being the first kid in our family to get stitches.
Noah turned 5!
May
Noah got to tour Carroll Elementary and check out the current Kindergarten classrooms, in preparation for Kindergarten in the Fall. He was REALLY excited!
Isaac's class dressed up as food from "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" for the school Literary Parade. Isaac was a donut with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles (just like in the book). I had fun making his costume, and was really happy with how it turned out.
Emma went through a phase where she insisted on wearing her Dora crocs ALL the time (even when she was sleeping).
Noah graduated from preschool.
June
Isaac finished Second Grade and was awarded the "Math Magician" Award.
Emma turned 3.
Our family took a vacation to California where we...

Isaac turned 8.

Isaac got baptized

Back to school! Isaac is in 3rd grade and Noah is in Kindergarten.
Today
Emma started preschool. Wow!
So there you have it. The last 5 months at a glance. Hopefully I'll do better at blogging over the next 5 months...

Meeting Catherine Hardwicke!
My friends and I went to the Twilgiht DVD Release party at the Borders in Allen. We were lucky enough to be at one of the locations that was chosen for a surprise "guest appearance". Right before midnight, the director of Twilight, Catherine Hardwicke, came into the store. It was really fun to meet her. We were told that she would only sign one item per person (either a copy of the DVD or the "Twilight Director's Notebook"). So, we went through the line and had her sign our DVDs. Then we decided to get back in line to have her sign our "Director's Notebook" as well (yeah, we're total rebels). I was a little nervous because I'm not usually a rule breaker, but there were so many people there that no one noticed that we came through twice (bwahahahahaha).
There were these cool big poster things sitting on either side of the table where she was signing, and Clint (my friend Lauren's husband) asked one of the people in charge what they were planning on doing with the posters after the event was over. They told him he could have one if he wanted! Of course, he said "yes". Then when there was a lull in the line, they put the poster up on the table for Catherine to sign! So, Lauren and Clint ended up with a signed poster as well! Pretty cool!
We really wanted to get our picture taken with Catherine, so we waited around until she was done signing everything, and when she was getting up to leave, I called out, "Catherine! Would you take a picture with our Twilight Mom group?" She was like, "Yeah! Twilight Moms!" So, here we are with the director of Twilight!! Woo Hoo! (L-R: Lauren, me, Alison, CATHERINE, and Jennifer)
Dallas Zoo
I'm always a little hesitant to take the kids somewhere "fun" when I don't have another adult with me. It seems that more times than not it ends with all 4 of us crying! But, by the last day of Spring Break I was feeling really bad that we hadn't done anything fun all week, so I decided to take the kids to the zoo. I'm really glad we went. The weather was beautiful, the kids behaved well, and we had a great time! It's days like this that help me remember why I love being a mom!
Scriptures
Isaac has been wanting to read the scriptures on his own lately. He doesn't have his own set yet (we're going to get him some when he gets baptized in July), so he's been reading from mine. I'm proud of him that he wants to do what is right. Our family has been slacking on our scripture reading lately, so I appreciate his faithful example! It was really funny, too, because when he first started reading from my scriptures, he got upset because someone had "colored" in them! I explained that the scriptures that are "colored" are ones that I have marked because I like them or want to remember them. He thought that was pretty cool and asked right away if he could mark some as he reads! Too funny!
Ice Skating With Noah
Ever since I took Isaac ice skating last July, Noah has been asking to go. I finally got around to taking him on February 21st. We had a blast! He was SO excited to go ice skating. He got a little nervous when we first got on the ice, but he got over it pretty quick. After ice skating, we went into the mall and had cookies and soda. Yum! It was fun to have a date with my little guy. He's such a sweetheart!

25 Random Things
OK, this post is a total cop out. I did this on facebook, and I'm just pasting it into my blog. :)
25 random things about me:
1. I have a headache almost all the time.
2. I ran Cross Country in High School, but haven't run since.
3. I got married when I was 18.
4. I took ballet lessons for 9 years (ages 3-12).
5. My children are both my greatest joy and my greatest frustration.
6. I love to scrapbook. About a year ago, I switched to digital scrapbooking, and it's the BEST.
7. My husband is probably the smartest person I know.
8. I am ridiculously obsessed with Twilight and Robert Pattinson (and it took a ridiculous amount of effort not to put this as number 1 on my list).
9. I sell Twilight Scrabble pendants on ebay, but I'm not brave enough to sell them on etsy. I just don't feel like I can compete there.
10. My 2 year old daughter is laying on the floor in only a diaper, waiting for me to finish this list.
11. I spend way too much time on the computer.
12. I allow my kids to play video games and watch TV way too much.
13. I like to laugh. I make a joke out of everything. I think it's a defense mechanism.
14. I can't stop buying Twilight merchandise (jewelry, shirts, buttons, blanket, etc.)
15. I've seen the Twilight movie 10 times (so far) in the theater.
16. I'm going to try not to mention anything else Twilight related in this list.
17. I have watched every Star Trek movie and TV episode ever made (from every series).
18. I miss living near my mom, but I love Dallas.
19. I love to blog, but haven't felt like doing it for the last couple of months (maybe Facebook is to blame).
20. I'm done having kids.
21. I hate calling people (except my mom). Even friends. Calling people scares the crap out of me. But once I start talking on the phone, I never stop.
22. When I'm hungry, I'm really mean.
23. I have a bachelor's degree in Family Sciences.
24. I love to sleep.
25. I didn't put very much time or effort into this list. I just wrote the first 25 things that came into my head.
A Little Bit Neurotic?
Emma likes to line up her toys. She's very particular about it, too. If one of them falls over she gets really upset, throws herself on the floor, and screams. The funny thing is that Isaac used to do the same thing with his toys (minus the screaming).
Oh, and see all those stuffed animals in the top picture? Emma sleeps with ALL of those in her crib. And she knows if even one of them is missing. They must ALL be there, ALL the time. Craziness!
Texas Weather
The only thing consistent about Texas weather is that it's inconsistent. At least in the Winter (the Summer is another story). Some days it feels like winter in California. We can wear short sleeved shirts without a jacket and be completely comfortable. On one of the days like that during January our family headed over to the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano. It's not so pretty over there in the winter (because the trees are bare and the grass is dead), but the weather was beautiful! The kids had fun riding their bikes (actually scooters and tricycle) and playing on the playground. Emma got tired after a little while, but didn't want to get off her trike to walk, so David took off his belt and hooked it up so he could pull her along. Good idea, David! :)
All in all, it was a good family day. And I'm glad we took advantage of the nice weather, because 3 days later was this (ice):
The good thing is, if you don't like the weather in Texas, you can just wait 5 minutes. :)
Just not in the mood
A couple people have expressed concern at my lack of blogging. No worries. Everything is great with me, I just haven't felt like blogging. I'm not exactly sure why. But here are some of the things I have been doing instead of blogging:
1). Facebook: It's just so much easier to update my status with a quick one liner than it is to blog. And I love how quickly and easily I can connect with friends and see what they're up to.
2). Twilight Mom Altered Book Round Robin: I signed up on the Twilight Moms forum to do an altered book round robin. For those of you who don't know what altered books are, here's the definition from Wikipedia:
An altered book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into a different form, altering its meaning.
An altered book artist takes a book (old, new, recycled or multiple) and cuts, tears, glues, burns, folds, paints, adds to, collages, rebinds, gold-leafs, creates pop-ups, rubber-stamps, drills, bolts, and/or be-ribbons it. The artist may add pockets and niches to hold tags, rocks, ephemera, or other three-dimensional objects. Some change the shape of the book, or use multiple books in the creation of the finished piece of art.
Altered books may be as simple as adding a drawing or text to a page, or as complex as creating an intricate book sculpture.
And what "round robin" means is that a bunch of us are collaborating together. We each started out with a copy of Twilight (13 people are participating, so there are 13 copies of the book total). We do whatever we want to create a spread in the book, then we mail it to the next person on the list. The books are passed along like that (every 2 weeks) until our own book comes back to us. So, sometime in July I will get my book back filled with all kinds of coolness. :) This is the first time I've ever done altered books. I'm not very good at it yet. Most of the people participating paint and do all sorts of cool stuff in the book. I'm scared to death of paint, so I'm sticking to what I know... scrapbooking. I'm going with the collage style (basically paper and embellishments, just like what I would put on a scrapbook page).

3). Scrabble Pendants: I've been selling Twilight Scrabble pendants on ebay. Yeah, I'm sure you're starting to notice a Twilight pattern here. What can I say? I love Twilight and doing Twilight crafts is a good outlet for me. :) Here's some of the pendants I've been selling:
4). Reading: I really recommend "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. That one was really good.
5). TV: Most of the year I watch little to no TV. But since "Lost" and "24" started up again, I've been keeping up with those. I know. That's not really an excuse to not have time to blog, but whatever.
6). Spring (actually Winter) cleaning: I actually cleaned out and organized my craft/scrapbooking closet. I also re-organized the media room. I took all the kids movies and video games out of their cases and put them into disc binders. It makes it SO much easier for the kids (and me) to put movies away when they're done with them. No more searching all over for the case. Or opening up the case to find that it's empty. Not to mention, now if the kids are abusing the discs (by not putting them away, leaving them on the floor, that sort of thing), I can just pick up the binder thing and take all their movies away. *evil laugh*
So, I haven't really disappeared off the face of the earth. I'm still here. I'm still happy. I'm just a more flaky blogger.
