First Grade!

Today is Isaac's first day of First Grade! He has been REALLY nervous about school since last week. When we went on Friday night to meet his teacher and see his classroom, he hid behind my leg and was too shy to even talk to his teacher, Mrs. Johns (embarassing). Today he did great, though. He was nervous all morning and kept telling me that he was shaking, but once we got to his school he seemed alright. I brought him into his room and sat him down at his desk, and he was ready! I snapped a quick picture and left. I'm so glad school has started again! Now I just have to wait for next week when Noah starts preschool. . .

Soccer!

My lazy side almost prevented me from signing Isaac up for soccer (I just didn't know if I wanted the commitment of practice and games every week). I'm so glad I decided to push my lazy tendencies aside and sign him up! His first practice was last Thursday. He was so excited to wear his shin guards and cleats! He was also very nervous about meeting his coach and team. He did great, though! His coach is the father of 6 year old triplets - 2 boys on Isaac's team and a girl. It works out pretty good because one of the coach's sons is going to be in Isaac's 1st grade class. I'm really excited for Isaac to finally make some friends in Texas. I know it has been hard for him. I think soccer is really going to help!

Cutest Girl Ever!

OK, don't you just think she's the cutest thing ever? Is it obvious that she has brothers or what?

Welcome to Texas, Mons Family!

David's sister Stefani, her husband Quentin, their 2 year old daughter Haley, and Baby ??? (due in February) have joined us in Texas! They bought their first house in Little Elm (about 10 minutes away from us) at the beginning of August. We're so excited to have some family in Texas and it has been fun for Isaac, Noah and Emma to have a cousin to play with! Hopefully Haley will survive her rambunctious cousins. :)

TEN years ago!

Yesterday was our TEN year anniversary! I can't believe it's been that long, but at the same time it seems like we've been married forever. A LOT has happened in 10 years. We've lived in 5 different places, 3 states, had 3 kids, David has had 9 jobs (4 while we were still at BYU and 5 full time jobs after graduation), I have had 7 jobs (2 while at BYU, 4 after graduation, and my current job as mother). We've had good times and tough times. We've learned and grown together. It's been wonderful. I'm so lucky to have such a fabulous husband who is a wonderful father and great provider for our family. I'm so grateful for how hard he works to take care of us. I love him at least 10 times more than the day we were married, and I'm looking forward to that love growing for many years to come!

No More Ba-Ba!

Last week I decided I'd had enough of drippy bottles, and it was time for Emma to switch to a cup. So, I went to Target, bought some new sippy cups, and made the switch. It really was that easy. She never complained at all about not getting a bottle! Both my boys were much more difficult about the switch. They both spit out the milk when I gave it to them in a cup. Noah actually almost stopped drinking milk completely for a while after I switched him to the cup. But Emma was no problem! Good girl!

Club Penguin

The Jensen boys introduced Isaac to Club Penguin and now he's obsessed! First Webkinz and now this! Good thing I got a new laptop and he can use my old one, or I'd never get a chance to play on the computer. He's just getting too big!

Imagine

"Let's check the map! Garden, Cornfield, Tallest Mountain!" These are the words Noah was saying as he looked down at a paper towel roll. For those of you who aren't familiar with children's shows, he's quoting Dora the Explorer. Pretty much constantly Noah can be heard reciting some line or another from some movie or another. Ever since he started talking he has repeated words from movies as he's watching them. Now he repeats words from movies whether or not the TV is on! It really is cute! He has a great imagination. I really do think he's in his own little world most of the time. . .

Great Article on "Stuff"

David sent me this link yesterday. The guy who wrote it usually writes about computer stuff (and David reads his columns), but every once in a while he writes about other things. I think his article on "stuff" is really interesting. Something to think about . . .

If at first you don't succeed . . .

try, try again! Above our fireplace we have a large opening to hang a picture in. Soon after we moved here, I ordered a picture to hang there. When it came, I had a feeling it was going to be too small, but we decided to hang it anyway in hopes that it would look alright - but it didn't. It looked ridiculously small!! The picture is 3 ft. by 4 ft., but we didn't realize that the space above the fireplace is more like 6 or 7 feet tall! The space just dwarfed the picture (as you can see below). I was so disappointed because I spent money on this picture and it just looked silly.

Our second attempt, however, was a complete success! I love it! We now have our new picture hung over the fireplace and it actually does the space justice (and thanks to Quentin for helping David hang it!). It also worked out well because the first picture we bought ended up fitting well in one of our art niches!

So the moral of the story is: When you make a mistake, don't get too frustrated. Just try again!

Net Heads

I think this is so funny! These are pictures of Isaac taken in May 2004 and pictures of Noah taken today - both with nets from the Elefun game on their heads. When I saw Noah doing this today, I was instantly reminded of when Isaac used to do the same thing, so I ran for my camera! Pretty funny. I guess great minds think alike (or at least 3 year old minds think alike).

Ward Split

Well, today they split our Ward. It was an interesting experience to witness the formation of a new Ward. The Frisco 2nd Ward was basically split in two, and the Frisco 6th Ward was formed. We are now part of the new Frisco 6th Ward. The Lord smiled upon us, and we ended up on the same side of the split as the Jensens. Yipee!! Rob is the new First Counselor in the Bishopric (as David predicted he would be). Of course some of the new friends we have made are on the other side of the split, but that was bound to happen. I'm just glad we haven't been in the Ward long enough to make a lot of good friends. That would make it so hard! I can't imagine how I would have felt if MP1 Ward had split! It's also pretty weird to be in a newly formed Ward with all the callings not filled. I don't envy the bishopric all the work they will have to do! It will be fun to see where we end up. David is probably pretty safe as a Seminary teacher, but who knows if I'll be in Primary (sniff, sniff). Anyway, pretty exciting stuff!
